Podaca

Selma House is located on the rocky coastline belonging to the Makarska Riviera, and on the edge of the town of Podaca. Podaca is a small coastal resort with glorious beaches and shady pine trees not far from the town of Gradac. Podaca lies about 80 km south of Split and 120km north of Dubrovnik.

The small town of Podaca has over a thousand years of history. It was founded on the stone mountains of Biokovo and the stone ruins and the 11th century church today are evidence of the thousand year history of Podaca.

There are many attractive destinations for day trips in the surrounding area : the island Hvar ( by ferry or beach boat ), the nearby lakes, the Medugorje pilgrimage site, the historical town of Mostar, or the famous ancient ruins at Pocitelj that have inspired countless artists and more.

The cultural programme includes summer plays in Split and Dubrovnik as well as on the nearby island of Hvar. There is also the 100 days "OPEN AIR" music festival, theatre and folklore events as well as concerts in the atrium of the Franciscan monastry.
